Early Warning – Watch Out For Online Holiday Scams

I realize this is a bit early, but it needs to be. Many of you are already thinking about Holiday shopping.

And crooks know it.

In this 2016 Forbes Article the author gives some very sound advice on how to avoid being conned during the online holiday shopping season.

Things to note:

  • This year (2017) will be worse than last year. That’s the nature of this situation. Every year the bad guys get better at what they’re doing, smarter at hiding nefarious activities, and more creative.
  • As the article states, please pay special attention while shopping “buy online and pick up in the store” deals.
  • The best advice on this or any other year – if a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. Watch out for unbelievably aggressive “Black Friday”- esque deals, especially from non traditional or unknown retailers.

This won’t be the last advice on holiday shopping we publish. It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but it’s also prime scam season. Watch your backs, and stay safe out there.
